History

Pro-Form Architects Limited was founded in Manchester, England in June 2006, under the UK Company Act 1985, by RIBA registered architect Mr Jing Wu (as Director) and Dr Sha Zhao (as Company Sectary).  Since early 2007, Mr Jing Wu has been practising architecture in Shanghai, China as the Managing Director and Principal Architect of the Shanghai Pro-Form Architectural Designing Consultants Co Ltd (SHPFA), in association with Prof Fangji Wang, also a Director and Principal Architect. The SHPFA has completed an extensive portfolio covering residential, retail, office to hospitality projects and more.

2014 Spring saw the practical opening of  Pro-Form Architects Limited in Manchester, following Jing’s moving to the UK, from where expertise and knowledge are brought together as consultancy service both to China and UK clients.

Considering the changes of circumstance between 2014 and 2017,  both SHPFA and Pro-Form Architects Limited have agreed that SHPFA will cease to use ‘Pro-Form’ in its English name and domain name ever since 2017.

Jing has also been qualified as a Grade I Chinese Registered Architect since 1998 and officially registered in Beijing in 2004.

Before setting up Pro-Form,  Jing worked at Peddle Thorp Architects in their Shenzhen Office as Vice Design Supervisor and as Chief Architect/Director in its Shanghai office from 2003 to 2006. Before that, Jing worked with Faulkner-Browns Architects and Urban Planners in the UK as a Part III Assistant, and with O’Riordan Staehli Architects in Ireland as a Design Architect from Summer 2000.  From 1993 to 1998, Jing worked as Assistant Architect and Architect in the Chinese Institute of Architectural Design and Research, a leading Chinese design institute.
